We are pleased that you are interested in becoming involved with AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) basketball. The programs are designed for competitive players with a strong desire and ability to excel. We are willing to provide you with any information that you may need to become involved during the 2010 season.

There are many opportunities to play during the spring, summer and fall. Teams are allowed to play as much or as little as a team sees fit. In Maine, we have an End of Winter League in February/March the State tournaments in March - Beginning of May, eight weekends of New England Invitational tournaments in the Portland area and a fall league (Oct, Nov..) for grades 7-12.  In addition, there are tournaments throughout New england and the country that teams can participate in.

The State tournament is a qualifier for the National AAU tournaments. We will utilize a pool play format leading into a single elimination tournament. Teams participating in the AAU tournament will play a minimum of 4 games during the tournament.  Please see the Tournament Flyer Schedule for dates and times for the State Tournament.  The number of quality players far outweigh the number of coaches available. It is therefore necessary for players and parents to become involved in organizing their own teams. The steps are simple and are as follows:

  1. Find a coach. Most of you have been involved with basketball for many years in your community and probably can think of people who may want to become involved, if asked.
  2. Choose players who fit into the same grade/age division.
  3. Register players and coaches, if not already registered for current year. Fill out team roster form.
  4. Procure uniforms or reversible tops with numbers is all that is required.
  5. Submit rosters and tournament fees to tournament director - Lenny Holmes.

NOTE AGE AND GRADE RULES FOR BOY'S TEAMS:
